The Bahamas is a country that consists of a chain of islands in The Caribbean. They’re located south of Florida and north of Cuba. The islands have sugar sand beaches and there are reefs off that make these islands an incredible and unique experience.
How to Get There
What you decide to do in The Bahamas will help determine how you get to the islands. If you’re staying at an all-inclusive resort, flying is a great option. If you’re looking to sample much of what the islands have to offer without having to travel around by car or boat a Bahamas cruise is a great option.
Casinos, Water Parks and More
Atlantis, the resort on Paradise Island, is an incredible experience on its own. Even if you’re not staying at this resort, pay it a visit. Take the time to walk through the casino, even if you’re not a gambler.
Paradise Island also has a waterpark that can be a lot of fun for adults and kids alike. The park has splash pools and huge slides. The Leap of Faith shoots you down the terrace of an Aztek temple, while the Abyss sends you through a darkened hole before landing in the water.
Spend Some Time on the Beach
Aside from waterparks, if an island getaway is your dream trip, then you’ll want to spend plenty of time on the beach. Perfect sand beaches offer the most ideal Caribbean experience. There’s even a Pink Sand Beach, if you’re looking for added charm. Pink Sand Beach has actual pink sand that glows rose under the sun.
Cable Beach is another beautiful beach and also one of the most developed in the Caribbean. It’s lined with golf resorts, luxury hotels and casinos. Beyond the beachfront property, you’ll find pubs, seafood restaurants and unique shops.
Snorkel or Dive
If you’re tired of relaxing on shore, you’ve got to explore the deep blue waters. Snorkel or dive, if you’re skilled, and visit the nearby reefs. Andros is the best spot to take a dive. It’s surrounded by a barrier reef, the third largest on the planet.
You’ll see so much unique marine life. Plus, there are unique dive spots, including shipwreck sites and underwater blue holes. You’ll see fish like parrotfish, trumpetfish and blue tangs.
Visit a Park
In addition to sparkling waters to dive into, The Bahamas is home to a very unique national park. Lucayan National Park, located off Grand Bahama, is vast with mangrove swamps, beaches and pine forests. You’ll have an opportunity to see beautiful birds and other wildlife while visiting.
The park also has a subterranean cave system. The system is one of the largest and longest on Earth. You can take a look in the caverns and spot bats, along with other creatures.
See Other Wildlife
Outside the natural parks, if you’re a marine life fan, you won’t want to miss a chance to visit with some unique animals. Swim with dolphins Salt Cay, or Blue Lagoon Island, is the place to go for dolphin encounters. Here you can have a dolphin encounter and swim with these amazing mammals. This island is also a great place to hike and experience history, as it used to be a pirate smuggler hideaway.
You can also pet a stingray on your visit. Visit Half Moon Cay for an up close and personal experience. Start with a training program about how to touch and be around stingrays. Then you’ll have the opportunity to pet and feed them, all in their natural waters.
