Used cars can come with a lot of compromised features that might irk a buyer. Carmonkey has a range of the best used cars in Tamilnadu that are maintained regularly to keep them in excellent condition for the customer to purchase. One of the problems one might face is the tearing of the vinyl covering on the console armrest. Here are 8 steps to solve this issue in no time!

Detach armrest:
The vinyl covering is attached to the armrest very tightly in between a few layers. This layer cannot be tugged out while the armrest is still fixed in position. It cannot be removed even on lifting the armrest. Hence, detach it from its position in order to change the vinyl covering of the armrest. One may require a toolkit and screwdriver for this purpose since different cars are screwed differently. Make sure to keep a Torx bit nearby if needed.
Deconstruct the armrest:
Since the covering is held in place a little deep, the armrest needs to be taken apart to ensure the covering is taken out without any effort. This process might also require taking out a few screws. Make sure the screws are sorted and kept safely since they will be required to put them back in place, and different sizes of screws are used, which may not fit if used in another compartment. One has to take all the layers out till a slim layer of just the covering is left. This is the layer that has to be worked on and replaced.
Vinyl removal:
Flip this layer to find the vinyl stapled to the inner layer. This removal might be a little time-consuming since it has been attached with accuracy and strength, so it cannot be easily removed. The staples can be removed easily using nail cutters, pliers, and any other device that may suit the process. After removing the staples, carefully remove the vinyl sheets from the top.
Adding foam:
Since the foam is directly under the vinyl, it could also suffer damages. The foam can be replaced, or the same one can be used if it is in good condition. Make sure it has a certain height to give appropriate cushioning to the armrest. A very flat foam could be too flat and hurt the arms. Use multiple foam layers if one does not completely cover the surface. The lower ends have to be sprayed with adhesives purchased online for the foam to stick to after covering. Even the best used cars in Tamilnadu go through such replacements to keep the vehicle in mint condition.
Vinyl cutting:
It is not necessary to cover it with vinyl alone. One can use any material that suits the car. Leather is a very well-liked material in this case. Vinyl, although, is the easiest to use while also being one of the cheapest options. Since this process requires a lot of cutting and sourcing, finding the appropriate piece of leather might be difficult and extremely expensive as leather might not be available in size required. After finding the material, cut it generously, providing appropriate lengths of material on each side to be reattached.
Vinyl attachment:
Attach the cut vinyl in place and leave appropriate space to staple or glue it underneath. Stapling is a better option since it is easier to replace it in the future. Glueing ensures that it stays in place but might be extremely tough to remove if needed. Staple it on every side at least twice or thrice for it to stay in place. Make sure the vinyl is stretched tightly, and there are no wrinkles on top of the surface.
Attach the armrest:
Use the screws and bolts previously removed to attach them back to the proper position. This process has to be carried out with great intricacy to ensure the screws are not tilted or screwed in the wrong positions since it might lead to breaking or damages to the armrest.
Spraying shiners and maintenance:
After attaching it, make sure to use sprays on top to clean it thoroughly and deeply. Since the product is new, it might have a smell or be a little sticky. One can remove the stickiness with the use of vinyl cleaners and microfiber cloths. Hand washing is recommended since any abrasive surface might cause cuts on the surface of the vinyl. It could also lead to faster wearing of the product that is counterproductive to the motive.
