The Europa Conference League is one way the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) plans to increase domestic league representation and generate more matchday revenue for teams across Europe. The competition framework had been in place since about 2015, with several adjustments made to it before the final announcement in December 2018. UEFA created the Europa Conference League to increase the number of football clubs and associations in UEFA club competitions. According to the press statement signed by the UEFA President, “an inclusive competition means more matches for more clubs, and more associations.” The competition will now feature as part of UEFA’s 2021-2024 cycle.
“The new UEFA club competition makes UEFA’s club competitions more inclusive than ever before. There will be more matches for more clubs, with more associations represented in the group stages. This competition was borne out of ongoing dialogue with clubs through the European Club Association. There was a widespread demand by all clubs to increase their chances of participating more regularly in European competition. This has been achieved with a strategic approach, and in accordance with UEFA’s objective of having both more quality and more inclusivity in our club competitions,” said Ceferin.
Before creating the Europa Conference League, a minimum of 26 football associations were guaranteed a place in the Champions League and Europa League, leaving lots of smaller associations without representation. To bridge the gap, UEFA created a new competition that ups the football associations to a minimum of 34, ensuring a more inclusive European feel. It was initially named the UEL2, with the name change coming in September 2019. The Europa Conference League will follow a similar pattern to the Champions League and Europa League matchups. While the group stage will feature 32 teams, teams will play three rounds of qualifying matches to secure entry into the group stage.
The Europa Conference League also allows UEFA to reduce the populated Europa League while increasing European club football matches. Qualification for the conference league is determined by UEFA coefficient rankings, with countries ranking between 6th to 15th having two representatives each. Countries between 16th to 50th get three representatives each, and those between 50th to 55th having two teams apiece. Nations ranked in the top 5 may only present one representative each since they are already favored for the Champions and Europa Leagues. Altogether, there will be 151 games in the competition, with the winner having to play between 15 to 17 games.
Match Timing And Schedule
The addition of the Europa Conference League means there is now more midweek football to look forward to. The competition’s matches will be played on Thursdays alongside the Europa League games. With Champions League matches on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, football fans and bettors now have more games for relaxation and punting. More football fans will also get the chance to see their team play at some popular grounds in Europe. The winner of the Europa Conference League will automatically qualify for the following season’s Europa League. At the same time, while other participating teams get a financial guarantee depending on how far they go in the competition. The nature of the competition will also see more traveling on the part of football clubs, while punters are bound to increase the time spent on stavnice v sloveniji than ever before.
The group stage will feature 32 teams, divided into eight groups of four. The group winners will then automatically qualify for the round-of-16, where they will face off against the best losers of the Europa League group stages. All fixtures from the round-of-16 stage will be double-legged, giving equal opportunity to both sides, fans, and soccer punters to make their mark on the game. The finals of all three UEFA competitions will be concluded in the same week, starting with the Conference League on Wednesday, Europa League on Thursday, and the elite Champions League on Saturday. In total, there may be as many as 72 teams in the competition from the play-offs stages to the conclusion. The Europa Conference League also bears semblance to the now discontinued UEFA Intertoto Cup for football fans who are old enough to remember.
What Do Punters Stand To Gain At Stavnice v Sloveniji?
One remarkable statistic about UEFA club competitions is the effort put in each season. Teams also take on an attacking approach, giving it their all in a bid to finish as high as possible. This determination garners well for regular punters at stavnice v sloveniji, as they can choose from any of the following markets.
- Goals: The goals market is the biggest of the UEFA club competitions, with hundreds of goals scored each season. The current champions league season has seen 365 goals scored in 124 matches, totaling an average of 2.95 goals scored per match. Slovenian punters can benefit from this by staking on the overs section of the goals market.
