Hiring a PT could be a wonderful place to start if you’re willing to take responsibility for your life changes. Here are my four suggestions for making the most of your sessions.
Select a PT who is a Good Fit for You:
It’s critical that you get along with your trainer because you’ll be spending a few hours each week, maybe for a long time. You must share a similar outlook and have something in mind.
Make it a Point to Understand what you Want to Achieve:
Yes, or at least, your PT should be able to assist you with this. If you want to “reduce weight,” you should be more specific about it.
- How much weight is there?
- When are you coming?
- What steps will you need to take to get there?
Your trainer should be able to assist you in breaking things down and making them plain to you. Understand what you want and when you want to achieve it.

When my customers are confident in their program, they are successful. This only occurs when I design it around them and their way of life. Yes, I can design a program that produces results, but if my clients lack confidence, they will not participate in the workout. If you’re expected to go to the gym and train outside of class, make sure you’re comfortable doing those exercises on your own, that you’re comfortable utilizing the equipment, and that you’re comfy going to the gym on your own. If you don’t think your program is a good fit for you, talk to your trainer about it and get active.
Collaborate with your Physical Therapists:
Inform your trainer if you miss a workout or have a weekend binge eating session. A competent PT will not yell at you like a gym teacher would (if they do, consider whether this is the person you want to train with). The truth is that we can all tell when a client hasn’t done their exercises or isn’t following their nutrition guidance. You can’t disguise the fact that we know what to look for.
It is a disservice to your trainer if you do not confide in them, and it will delay your progress if you are not honest. Communicate any problems you’re having and work together to find a solution.
