The Weather
Residents of most of the northern hemisphere will probably be sick of the rain and cold by now, so getting some sunshine will be one of the most important things for many people. While Paris is not exactly Tenerife, spring here is a magical time of the year with mild temperatures, blooming flowers, and longer days. You can expect the weather to be pleasantly warm with an average temperature of around 15°C (59°F), making it perfect for strolling along the Seine river, picnicking in one of the city’s beautiful parks, or enjoying a glass of wine at a sidewalk café.
If you’re a fan of cherry blossom, then you should definitely plan your trip to Paris during springtime. The city is filled with beautiful cherry blossom trees that line the streets and parks, creating a stunning pink and white landscape. The most famous spot to see cherry blossoms is in the Parc de Sceaux, but you can also find them in other parks like the Jardin des Plantes and Parc des Buttes-Chaumont.
With the weather warming up, spring is the perfect time to enjoy outdoor activities in Paris. In recent years, Paris have added over 900 miles worth of bike lanes to the city, along with an official bike sharing service. Coupled with lovely wide boulevards, Paris is now a wonderful city to cruise around by bike. You can also go on a boat tour, or simply meander through this beautiful city on foot. There are also numerous outdoor markets and festivals that take place during the spring season, as locals start to take to the streets again after their winter hibernation. This gives visitors a chance to experience the fantastic local culture.
Art and Culture
Paris is known for its rich history and vibrant art scene, but that can be both a blessing and a curse. If you visit during the summer you’ll have plenty of options, but also plenty of competition for space. Lines at the Louvre for example, can stretch to over 3 hours! Spring is the perfect time to explore the city’s museums and galleries, there are enough other tourists to give the place some atmosphere, but not so many that you spend half your vacation waiting in line. As well as the world famous museums such as the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, and Centre Pompidou, you can also attend one of the many cultural events that take place during the spring season, such as the Saint-Germain Jazz Festival or the Foire de Paris.
Food and lodgings
Paris is famous for its delicious cuisine, and springtime is the perfect season to indulge in the city’s culinary delights. Everything is open, but you won’t have much trouble finding a table. You can enjoy a croissant and coffee at a local café, dine at one of the city’s world-renowned restaurants, or visit a local market to sample some of the city’s fresh produce.
With temperatures creeping a little higher, we are also entering terrace time. The Paris tradition of Apéro (a cocktail or other drink between work and dinner) is sacred, whether you’re sitting inside or outside. To really capture the atmosphere though, you need to be sat outside in a lovely plaza. Fortunately in March the weather gets warm enough for that to be a highly pleasant experience.
It’s the same with accommodation. Demand is high enough that you have plenty of options available, but low enough that finding somewhere shouldn’t be too difficult. Whether you want a hostel, a hotel, or an apartment, you won’t be left without a place to rest your head.
What are you waiting for?
Paris in the spring then, is a destination that should not be missed. With its beautiful weather, art, culture, and incredible gastronomy, it’s the perfect time to experience the magic of this enchanting city. So pack your bags and book your trip to Paris this spring!
