The different types of reef that you can see:
Cozumel consists of a long reef line. It is around 40 miles long at one go. It feels like a continuous long wall. There are no gaps. It is blooming with life and all sorts of small and big creatures. The reef is close to the shore. On the southern side, the gap from the shore is increased slowly. There are favourite sites for dining in this reef. They have separate names like the north site, south site and so on. On the north, the diving has to be done at a deeper level as the current is rather strong here. So the coral is short and bushy tamed by the currents to remain so. On the southern side you can find, canyons, swim-throughs and similar patterns. The middle reef is rather good for first-timers or new divers. There is a soft current and even terrain of the reef.
Special sea creatures that you can see:
When you go diving in the Cozumel you are bound to see loads of fish and other creatures. But the ones you must not miss are the toadfish, spotted eagle ray and sea turtle. The toadfish is not found anywhere else in the world. They are nocturnal in nature and you may not see them in the day. Make a trip that ends towards late evening to get a sight of this special fish. They are loud and make a sound like a frog that you cannot miss when they are around. The spotted eagle ray is most seen during the December to March season. They are easily seen in the northern reef in large numbers. The endangered green sea turtles and loggerhead sea turtles are found here all year round. May to September is the best season to see huge females of the species.
